Chinese Medicine Fertility Tips

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) takes a holistic approach, focusing on balancing the body’s energy (Qi), Yin-Yang, and the five elements. It uses natural therapies like acupuncture, herbal medicine, and tai chi to restore harmony and prevent illness. And TCM has centuries old wisdom to share to improve our health and especially ones fertility.

Here are a few simple TCM tips to overall improve your fertile potential.  You can do them at home, they are easy and inexpensive. They may seem odd, but give them a try!

Keep your feet warm.

    • Several meridians (or channels) begin on the feet and travel to the female reproductive area. Wearing socks and keeping your feet warm, increases blood flow through these meridians. The improved improve blood flow goes to the uterus and, trust me, you don’t want a cold uterus when trying to conceive;-) Actually, “a cold uterus” is one of the TCM pathologies for infertility.

Build yourself back up after menstruation.

    • Menstruation is a depleting event and what happens earlier in your cycle influences later events, ie ovulation, implantation & luteal phase. focus on nourishing foods, herbs and supplements after menses to replenish what was lost and to improve your fertile potential.
      • vegetarian foods: beets & carrots, dark leafy green veggies, grapes & cherries, sunflower, pumpkin & black sesame seeds, black & aduki beans, black strap molasses, sea veggies, ie kelp & dulse
      • animal foods (if you eat): eggs, organic, free-range, hormone-free, grass fed beef, dark poultry meat, small amounts are enough!
      • herbs & supplements: stinging nettles, white peony, goji berries, dang gui, rehmannia, floradix Iron + Herbs, women’s precious TCM formula, liquid chlorophyll & blue green algea

Daily destress

    • You’ve probably heard this before and i’m sharing it again:-) daily habits to lower stress are essential for improving fertility. helps your vital energy QI, especially keeps your liver Qi flowing smoothly, down regulates the stress response and allows for greater ease while trying to conceive. Make sure to include daily stress busting habits to support free flow of your vital energy (QI), and a smooth liver function
      • short meditations, regular exercise, warm baths, journaling
